Projects

• Expansion of the upper log yard will give the port another 1.5 hectares of general storage. It is anticipated resource consent will be lodged April 2011 with construction underway summer 2011-2012. 

•Eastland Port is currently constructing a Cargo Storage Yard at Matawhero which will alleviate peaks in export volumes with space for up to 30,000 tonnes of logs on the three hectare area. The site will be completely self contained with scaling and weighbridge facilities.

• The refurbishment of number two and three wharves is underway and due for completion in March 2011. The wharves are up 90 years old in places and were in need of refurbishment. The work is part of the port's ongoing re-investment in the Inner Harbour area, a vibrant and key entertainment destination for the city.

• Around 6 hectares of log yards will be asphalted over the next 3 years which will increase storage capacity by up to 10% and vastly improve stormwater management and quality.

• The refurbishment of the 120-year-old port breakwater started in December 2010. A key component in the ongoing operation of the port, over the next few years the entire length of the breakwater will be refurbished as part of the project.

• The port's comprehensive survey of its current and future customer base has been used to develop a 15-year strategic plan.
