The policy statement provides guidance to our staff on their actions to ensure that a safe and healthy work environment is maintained. All Port users must adhere and comply with the Health and Safety requirements outlined in the booklet at all times. Already we pride ourselves on our safe work environment. However, we have a philosophy of continuous improvement, and so we have a commitment to make Eastland Port Limited an even safer place to work.
Whilst we wish for everyone to have a pleasant, safe and above all enjoyable experience whilst visiting the Inner Harbour area, we are conscious of our responsibility to ensure that those using the facilities comply with any bylaws and/or rules issued by our Council and other governing bodies.
We therefore encourage you to make the most of your visit by first acquainting yourself with the rules that may affect your visit.
Gisborne District Navigation and Safety Bylaw 2004 states:
No person may dive, swim or undertake other related activities, from any jetty, wharf, or quay which is in regular use for the berthing and unberthing of vessels, or within 50 metres of these structures, or within any designated anchorage or mooring area, or any other such areas in the harbour as a Harbourmaster or Enforcement Officer may from time to time determine, unless the person does so in accordance with the prior written consent of a Harbourmaster or Enforcement Officer.
